How long does it take to install a new countertop?

Although it does take time to research what countertop material is the best choice for you and your lifestyle, an actual Countertop Installation can typically be executed in 2-4 hours. This could also vary depending on material selection/delivery and the size and scope of the project.

Can I use a different countertop for the island in my kitchen?

Island countertops get more use than any other surface in your kitchen, so you could definitely consider a different material relative to what is chosen for the other areas in your space, but carefully weigh your choices: Granite and quartz, for example, make great selections for their natural beauty and resistance.

How will I know that NorthStone Granite is qualified to work in my home?

NorthStone Granite is fully insured and covered by WSIB to conduct countertop work in your home.

What are the available methods of payment?

Cash, cheque or etransfer are accepted methods of payment.

How do I take care of my new counters?

Granite countertops require sealing bi-annually while quartz is a non-porous surface and never requires sealing.

Can I see the Product?

Yes! You are more than welcome and encouraged to visit the suppliers directly to view the material in full slab size. This may help you make a final decision on material selection. Often customers bring other colour samples from their space including cabinet doors, paint and flooring with them to see how they work together.

How do I create/get an accurate template?

When scheduling a template we request that the homeowner, designer or contractor is on site so that we may ask questions related to the final installation.
1- If you are replacing an existing countertop only, the old countertop does not have to be removed. However, have your countertop clean and clear of all items.
2- All new cabinetry must be installed prior to templating.
3- Ensure that all cabinets are installed and are level and secure.
4- Appliances, faucets and sinks must be selected prior to templating and should be on site or exact installation measurements available.

Who will remove my old countertop?

You can remove your old countertop yourself or NorthStone Granite can remove and dispose of your old countertop for you.

How long will I be without a sink?

If we are is removing your countertop, you can have your sink hooked up within 2 hours after installation.

Who installs the sink?

Most people select an undermount sink. If your sink is onsite at the time of installation, we will install your sink in your countertop for no extra charge. Undermount sinks are attached to your granite countertop with silicone. Silicone must cure for 24 hours before creating a strong bond. During the curing process, the sink is held up with a brace which is removed after 24 hours.

How do I prepare the cabinets and walls?

Cabinets and walls must be square, level and structurally sound. This needs to be completed prior to our arrival.

Do plumbing fixtures and appliances need to be on site during installation?

Sinks, soap dispensers and faucets need to be on site during installation. It is best to have appliances on site as well to ensure proper installation.
